Body Hair
To remove your body hair or not remove it, that is the question. We all have different answers. And, depending on our ever-changing lifestyles, even our answers may change throughout our lives. For example, if you move somewhere close to a beach, you may be more likely to remove body hair. No one wants to have pubic hair hanging out from underneath a bikini or bathing suit. So, as you can see, feelings often change depending on our current situation.

What Do You Think About Your Body Hair?
Some people believe:
- We should keep our body hair because it protects skin from dirt and germs.
- We should keep it because it provides cushioning for sensitive areas.
- We should keep it because it lessens the friction between skin and clothes.
- We should keep it because it holds in heat to keep us warm when we need it.
- We should keep it because it retains our personal scent, which may attract our potential mate.
These people believe because we’re born with body hair, it’s best to just let it grow. These people add that a big benefit is you don’t have to spend your time or money removing it.
Other people believe:
- We should remove it because it holds dirt and germs.
- We should remove it because it interferes with sensations in sensitive areas.
- We should remove it because it causes friction between skin and clothes.
- We should remove it because it holds in heat which creates our personal scent, which repels everyone.
These people believe that just because we’re born with body hair, doesn’t mean we have to accept it. These people believe it’s their body, (and hair), to do what they please and the big benefit for them is they say they look and feel better.
Body Hair and Body Image
How our body hair plays into our body image is influenced by a number of things, beginning with our parent’s perception of what should be done with it. Then what we see and learn about what to do from our peers. And of course, what the media tells us should be done with it.
If you’re like most people, dealing with your body hair is a part of your daily grooming routine. Whether you choose to just let it grow, trim or completely remove it, grooming the hair on your body is a basic step towards being more presentable in the world at large – Both publicly and privately.
